About the Work

Grev Kafi's painting "The World Is Full of Mysteries" presents a child looking with wonder and interest at a ladybird on his hand. The little researcher stands upright at the centre of the painting, surrounded by nature and bathed from above in rays of sunlight.

The painting is made in light blue and violet tones. In the foreground, the flowers have clear, accented contours; on the second and third planes they merge gently with a harmonious distant landscape, where the eye can no longer distinguish the outlines of mountains or lake and the mind begins to form details from imagination.

The painting offers an unusual symbolism of the human soul, embodied by the child born into this world to discover its mysteries. He is surrounded by beautiful flowers and fields, waters and mountains, and on the lakeshore, in the middle of nature, stands his home. Nature is so varied and beautiful that the soul is encouraged to begin exploring it. The more the child, the soul, learns, the wider the horizon of knowledge becomes and the more mysteries of nature are revealed; this activity is endless.
