About the Work
Two figures on either side of a mountain gorge and the rising sun: an image of inner calling, of ascent and striving toward the light.
"The Call" is built on the vertical of ascent: the mountain landscape becomes a metaphor for the inner path, and light becomes the goal and support of movement. It is an image of aspiration in which nature and the spiritual state of a person merge.
The mountain motif is no accident: fifteen years of work in the Tian Shan mountains gave Grev Kafi a particular sense of scale, light and silence that passed into their symbolic compositions.
The theme of the inner path and of light links "The Call" to the "Agni Yoga" cycle — a meditation on inner discipline, responsibility and a person's ability to hold a luminous direction.
