Creation Story

How the canvas was born

The work took shape from the practice of joint painting: the composition was discussed together, then carried out "four hands" — one artist held the overall rhythm of spot and light, the other built the figure and its movement toward the source.

The motif of aspiration grew out of mountain plein-air work in Central Asia and out of reading the books of Living Ethics, begun already in Kazakhstan. The rising light here is not literally a sunset or a sunrise, but an image of the inner flame toward which a person turns.

Tempera was chosen for its transparent, layered tones: gold and ochre show through the cool shadow, creating a sense of slow kindling.

Symbolism & Interpretation

To go to meet is already to carry within you the light you are walking toward.

Symbolism & Reading

The Language of the Image

Light ahead

The source is placed outside the figure — aspiration matters more than possession. The viewer looks not at the light, but follows the one walking toward it.

Ascent

The diagonal and the rise of the mountain ridge set an upward movement — a constant motif of Living Ethics: the path as inner work, not as outcome.

Fire

The warm palette is "agni," the fire of the spirit. It does not burn but warms and guides, showing through the cool shadows of the foreground.
